Want a Neighbourhood Guide for Your Hotel?

I can create a neighbourhood guide for your hotel and publish them at

A neighbourhood guide provides a series of articles about things for your guests to explore around your hotel.

Here is a sample:

The listing also provides a profile of your hotel with a link to your website and booking system.

This is great advertising for your hotel

The process starts with a short discussion with a guest experience expert at your hotel about some of the best places in the area,

I may already have some ideas about articles,

Then I create a series of articles with photos of places for your guests to explore.

I am currently in the the Vancouver, British Columbia area,  We will be in the Kansas City/Branson area for a week at the end of September.

We travel a lot, so your area could be next.

Park & Tilford Gardens: A Hidden Gem in North Vancouver

Park & Tilford Entrance

Park & Tilford Gardens is a little piece of Paradise nested in a corner of Park & Tilford Mall at 333 Brooksbank Avenue, North Vancouver.  Open between 9:30 am and 8 pm most days of the year.

The gardens were built by Park & Tilford Distilleries and opened by Chairman and CEO George D. Kuhn in 1969.

The garden has gone through many changes over the years remains to be a serene place to rest and admire the flowers and plant collections.

The sections of the gardens include a Rose Garden, Asian Garden, Herb Garden, Greenhouses, and more.

Here are a few photos by Greg Dixon.

Asian Garden

The Asian Garden is my favourite spot.  There is a Tea House where you can relax and enjoy the serenity.

Bonnie and I have collective experiences with sales, marketing, websites, video, copywriting, and content creation.

One of our niches is creating and marketing information products such as online courses, workshops, and webinars.

In addition to websites, social media, and WebinarJam, we are building our business and helping our clients with Kartra, a new all-in-one digital marketing platform that launched recently.

Here how we will use Kartra to help our clients succeed:

  • Build membership sites on Kartra, including video, text, exercises, and illustrations.
  • Build mailing lists of people interested in the information products and other goods and services. Kartra maximizes and tracks delivery and open rates.
  • Build sales funnels and opt-in pages  to build lists and sell information products and services.
  • Build pages to augment those of WordPress websites.
  • Host video on Kartra for use in marketing campaigns and information blogs.  Kartra provides detailed analytics about who watches the videos and how far they watch.  Offers and other marketing tags can be built into the videos.
  • Design and build sequences and automations.  Say a person opts in to a seven part series on writing.  Kartra can automatically send one part a day for seven days.  Each mailing could include offers and other calls to action.
  • Integrate Kartra with WebinarJam to present information and marketing webinars.
  • Integrate Kartra with payment processors such as PayPal and Stripe to handle all payments.

Kartra integrates a suite of key services that would have taken many platforms such as InfusionSoftMailChimpLeadPagesClickFunnelsKajabi, and others to achieve.

If you have used or considered using any of these platforms, Kartra is absolutely for you.

The Genius of Kartra is that the platform integrates all of the essential tools in one easy to use and affordable platform.

Our Influences & Training

Our Influences and Training

Along the theme of not knowing what we want to do when we grow up, we have followed many inspiring people and often signed up for their training products. Each offers a roadmap to being healthy, wealthy, and happy.

Marie Forleo

Marie Forleo

Marie Forleo is based in New York and has a video blog called Marie TV.  She puts out a new video blog most Tuesdays that include interviews with people like Gabrielle Bernstein, Tony Robbins, Ariana Huffington, Elizabeth Gilbert, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Carr, Danielle Laporte, and many many more.

She also has Q&A sessions where answers personal and business questions.  Her advice is always insightful and often entertaining.

Her message is pitch perfect.

Every episode starts with,

“You are watching marieTV, the place to be to create a business and and life you love.”

Each episode ends with,

“Stay on your game and keep going for your dreams.
Because the world needs that special gift that only you have.”

I travelled to New York to meet her at a Kris Carr book launch that featured a speaking event by Kris Carr, Marie Forleo, and Gabrielle Bernstein.

There were around 400 people there from all over the world, including Kristen Noel and Lynn Newman.

I was one of around four men in the room and possibly the only one not coming with a partner.

I think Mario Forleo has helped improved the lives and businesses of hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

Check out a few episodes.

Marie Forleo B-School

Marie Forleo has very comprehensive online course called B-School.  We have been a lifetime member for two years and I have run into two people in Vancouver who said that investing in B-School was the best thing they ever did.

Marie Forleo B-School

I totally agree. This is possibly the only course you will ever need to create a thriving online business that you love.

Marie presents all of the modules with video, text, swipe files, exercises, and resources.  There are bonus modules and it simply gets better and better.

American Writers & Artists Inc. (AWAI)

In a video on marketing, Dan Kennedy said the most important skill to learn is copywriting, and the best place to learn is American Writers and Artists Inc (AWAI).

I flew to Delray Beach, Florida in 2015 for the AWAI FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair and Bonnie and I drove down on the RV in 2017.

The event, the organization, the courses, and the people are absolutely fabulous.

Great Escape Publishing

Great Escape Publishing is also based in Delray Beach Florida. We met Lori Allen at the AWAI Copywriting Bootcamp.

They provide a huge range of live events, online courses, travel excursions, and podcasts aimed at people who want to make money with travel writing, video, and photography.

I have subscribed to many of the programs and am working towards a niche in travel writing, photography, and video, including:

  • ITWPA: International Travel Writers Professional Alliance
  • Travel Writer’s Café
  • Breaking Into In-Flight Magazines
  • Kyle Wagner’s Travel Writing Internship
  • The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Program (Full Course)
  • Power Hour: The $10K Plan For New Photographers
  • Travel Videos
  • Great Escape Radio Podcasts

Lisa Sasevich

Lisa Sasevich is an inspiring mentor know for her Speak-To-Sell programs.

Her courses and books are amazing and you can hear echos of her teachings in other speaking coaches such as Karen McGregor.  There could have been another mentor before them, though it looks like the main influence was Lisa Sasevich.

It is on our list to attend one of her live events in San Diego and become Sassys:-)

Jeff Walker

Jeff Walker is the founder of Product Launch Formula.  I know him from almost daily video blogs that are always insightful.  His brand is his natural, authentic self.

Subscribe to his list!

Andy Jenkins, Video Boss, Kartra

My first exposure to Andy Jenkins was with video sales letters to promote Video Boss.

One of the reasons I signed up is he said, “don’t sign up for Video Boss if you can’t afford it or will not follow through with doing the program.” …

Next he and Mike Filsame were promoting Webinar Jam!

Then Kartra.

We are starting to  Webinar Jam! and Kartra to power our business.

Russell Brunson, Click Funnels

it is hard to imagine a more colorful frontman than Russell Brunson.  He is outrageous and I am one of many that think of him as a marketing genius.

One of his insights is funnel hacking. Like Tony Robbins, he says study people and businesses that are successful and do what they do.  His presentations and book have these fun cartoon illustrations that he creates live.

Click Funnels is a great product too.

This blog post arrived in my mailbox this morning: Commitments that Matter.

Dan Kennedy

Dan Kennedy is a straight-talking, No B.S. marketing genius and writer.

I am tempted to say his is the Anti-Marie (Forleo, that is), though I think their advice differs mostly in style.  I suspect Dan Kennedy and Jersey Marie (Marie Forleo‘s Jersey girl alter-ego) would get along hilariously.

Here is something of an unusual question and answer from the No B.S. Inner Circle Marketing Letter that gives an idea of his writing style.

Q&A…you’ve got questions, Dan’s got answers!

From Todd Squitieri: I’m curious. Has Dan ever written any NO BS books or articles on relationships and finding compatible partners. I know he has been married, divorced, re-married, so I’d like his perspective. If he doesn’t travel much, how did he find a significant other in the first place? I’ve found a couple clues in his books. But why hasn’t he written more about this? After all, relationships are a form of business and business deals.

DAN: Everybody’s a comedian. Asking me to explain marriage or domestic partnership or women or wives is like asking Roseanne Barr for a lecture on restraint and discretion about public vs. private thoughts. But on the off chance Todd’s not just yanking my chain for the fun of it, I have a few comments.

First, Napoleon Hill got this right, and I’d refer you to his writing on the importance of a reasonably stable, reasonably harmonious relationship and home life for the entrepreneur. If you want a completely stable relationship, get a horse. But managing two battlegrounds, one at home, one in business is, for almost everybody, one too many. I talk, mostly privately, with clients suffering with unsupportive and toxic spouses and emergent or chronic volatility and drama on the home front, and my advice is consistent: confront and fix fast and permanently or write whatever check you must to get out as quickly and cleanly as you can.

Hill had no great advice on finding the right person, nor do I, but you might start with clarity about what won’t do. Setting aside the brief disruption, I have been fortunate with my marriage and life with Carla. I rarely credit “fortunate” for good things because I believe accomplishments have explanations, but in this singular case, I cannot explain my good fortune.

To your point about the kinship of personal relationships to business relationships, a caution, since you indicate you are in search of mate: I would imagine most women won’t like the analogy. Probably not first date conversation. Yet I’d say you are right about certain fundamentals.

Anytime you move from transactional activity to long-term relationships, trust becomes a central issue, far more so than specific, micro accounted for quid pro quo. Had you asked me about sustaining long-term business relationships — a more appropriate question for my expertise — I would have told you that I observe relatively few people really good at this, many utterly inept at it and, in many cases, also pretty ignorant about its linkage to sustaining success. That does not suggest you sacrifice and compromise or allow dependence on everybody’s approval, but it does mean you need to invest to cultivate a quality reputation so that long-standing relationships with quality people are possible.

In The Renegade Millionaire System, I suggest a useful litmus test for business deals: can the individual you are contemplating doing a deal with cite at least three others that have done more than one deal with him? If not, odds are, you won’t be the first one to wind up happy. Anyway, thanks for the question.

Dan Kennedy has hundreds of books available on Amazon. The range of topics is phenomenal and each that I have read has been fabulous.  Take a look.

What Is Copywriting and Why Do You Need It?

Copywriting is one of those words that can be foreign to potential clients until they get how important it can be to their business.

What Is Copywriting?

Copywriting refers broadly to any kind of persuasive writing used to for many reasons:

  • Promote products and services
  • Communicate ideas
  • Create interest in non-profit projects
  • Political campaigns
  • And much more

You see it in advertisements, billboards, newsletters, product brochures, social media marketing, websites, video promotions, ….

In short, copywriting is responsible for almost everything you read in print, on screen, and online.  Most political speeches are a form of copywriting.

Copy Is Everywhere

Here are the kinds of copywriting we do:

  • Content Marketing
Informative articles and reviews that promote interest in a product or service.
  • Websites or Web Pages
Anything from single pages and posts to full websites with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The current platform of choice is WordPress to make it easy for clients to work on as little as much as their time and interest suggests.
  • Blog Posts
One strategy to keep interest is to post blog posts on interesting topics on a regular basis.  These in turn can be promoted through social media and linked in email newsletters.  The goal is to create a synergy between various marketing platforms to light up your online presence.
  • Social Media Posts
Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter posts and advertising campaigns.
  • Newsletters
Weekly or monthly newsletters that inform the members about events, helpful information, and special offerings.
  • Billboards
Our recent adventures with signs has us interested in writing for billboards.
  • Electronic Message Centers
These are the limited color, full-color, and video signs that have scrolling or changing images.  Given my video background, I am especially interested in creating effective sign presentation.
  • Video Sales Letters
Persuasive videos that promote ideas, services, or products.  Could include testimonials.

Why Do You Need A Copywriter?

Chances are that your projects currently require quite a lot of writing to succeed.

You can (and should) learn to write great copy yourself.

Two places to learn are American Writers & Artists Incorporates (AWAI) at and Marie Forleo’s The Copy Cure at

Chances are, you will have more copy to write than you have time to write.

And perhaps writing copy is not the best use of your time.

That is when one or more copywriters can step in to help.

Projects can be single items or writing over time with a monthly retainer.

I have been a member of American Writers and Artists (AWAI) for two  years and have attended the Copywriting Bootcamp and Jobfair in Delray Beach, Florida in 2015 and 2017.

La Familia Cortez Restaurants in San Antonio

The RV park we were staying at in San Antonio recommended La Familia Cortez Restaurant in Market Square.  He said to come early as lineups started early.

Mariachi Bar

We arrived shortly after 4 pm, before the rush.

The restaurant is very festive, with bright colours and decor everywhere.

There was a Mariachi Bar to the left of the main entrance, and restaurant to the right.

The photos here were taken with my cell phone and the  evening rush had mot started yet.

Great Service

The servers wore great costumes, were fun, and provided great service.

Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Very tasty!

Mariachi Band

A group of musicians and singers roved around the restaurant, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Leaving the restaurant was dangerous! By the front door was a bakery offering irresistible treats!

We left feeling that we had a fabulous experience and will go back next time we are in San Antonio.

The walls are filled with photos of family members and famous guest, showing proud family history.

Email adLa Familia Website

The website offers photos, family history, the menu, items from the gift shop, family recipes, job postings, and more.

Highly recommended 🙂
